Our history
In the early 1960s, DE-GA completed its first integrated projects, located in the hills of Turin, providing services, schools and sports facilities that would serve the housing estate.
In the 1970s, DE-GA experimented the 'satellite village' formula in Vinovo (in the Turin area) based on a model that had already been tried and tested in France and England: suburban housing estates located in areas featuring wide open spaces of parkland and served by basic services, from commercial businesses to leisure facilities.
In the 1980s, while DE-GA continued to propose the theme of 'integrated housing estates' in other parts of the Turin hinterland (such as Rivoli), it began a regeneration project in part of Turin's historic city centre, which continued for around a decade.
The so-called 'quadrilatero romano' is the tangible result of a private-public partnership that today is recognised as a restoration model for regenerating the city centres of Italian cities.
At the beginning of this millennium, DE-GA put forward one of the first Project Financing ventures in order to construct the Scuola Universitaria Interfacoltà per le Biotecnologie in Turin.
Using the Project Financing tool, which allows the completion of public works with mainly private capital, the company commissioned the design and constructed the modern university site for training and research, considered to be one of the most interesting architectural developments done in Turin of recent years.
Today, after having contributed to Turin's 2006 Winter Olympic Games by constructing hotels (the NH Hotel and the Art Hotel Olympic) and part of the media's Olympic Village, DE-GA is tackling the issue of renovating old industrial complexes, converted as homes and office space.
The design, which is always entrusted to high-level professionals, is oriented towards energy efficiency, with the aim of combining architectural and construction quality while containing running and maintenance costs.
