The new 'Scuola Universitaria Interfacoltà per le Biotecnologie' is the location of a BA degree course and four MA degree courses and is designed to take around 800 students and 200 teachers and support staff.
In order to complete the project, the University of Turin used a project financing procedure, for the first time in its history, which combined financing, design, construction and building management. The project resulted in a three-storey building with one underground floor, constructed around four courtyards, similar to the courtyards of the 19th-century Veterinary Department in Turin.
The faculty boasts three large lecture halls, seating 220 students, three lecture halls seating 100 students, as well as student labs equipped for experiments in biology, chemistry and computer technology.
Reading rooms and meeting rooms, as well as information centres and administrative offices, were created in the existing, renovated buildings.
