The project was the first phase of the 'Vitali district' regeneration project, a semi-central disused industrial area with a building capacity of 160,000 m2 of gross floor space.
The project's aim was to regenerate the site by creating a new urban centre with integrated services on the edge of a large well-appointed park.
The first phase included around 30,000 m2 of partly private and partly public apartments, 13,000 m2 of shops, 6,000 m2 of hotel space and 1,500 m2 of office space.
The entire block was used in the first months of 2006 as the 'Villaggio Media' (1,400 beds and common rooms) during the XX Winter Olympic Games, and then was reconverted for the use planned in the original project.
The construction work was done by DE-GA in partnership with three other Turin-based companies: Coimpre s.a.s, Impresa Rosso S.p.A. and Zoppoli and Pulcher S.p.A.
